What is the Tiptoeing in my Jordans trend?

Where the viral AI Rumpelstiltskin tiptoe dance came from, how it spread, and why it's stuck in everyone's head.

"Tiptoeing in my Jordans" (also called the AI Rumpelstiltskin meme, the tip toe dance or "Tip Toein' in My Jordans") is an AI-generated clip that went viral on TikTok, X and Instagram in October 2026. It looks like a scene from a 1980s fantasy film: in a barn full of straw, a small imp-like trickster creeps up to a frightened young woman, raises a finger to his lips, breaks into a grin and tiptoes around her in a pair of Jordan sneakers, arms spread and shoulders swaying. In the full original he spins the straw into gold, she kisses him, and he turns into a prince.

The clip was first posted on Instagram in late August 2026; NBC News credits AI artist and filmmaker Tatyana Tereshchenko. It exploded after TikTok users set it to "Tip Toe Wing In My Jawwdinz", a 2014 track from rapper Riff Raff's album Neon Icon, whose hook gave the meme its name. Captions like "the type of dreams I be having after taking dollar store melatonin" and "me sneaking downstairs at 2 a.m. for a snack" turned it into a reaction format, and many viewers spent days convinced it came from the 1987 Rumpelstiltskin movie. It didn't.

The next wave was face swaps: creators put Sam and Dean from Supernatural, Wednesday Addams, Deadpool and their own friends on the dancer, while others built homemade Rumpelstiltskin costumes and did the tiptoe in real life. Here you can make your own version from one photo, with an optional second photo for the shocked bystander.

A viral AI video meme from fall 2026. In a straw-filled barn that looks like a 1980s fantasy film, a Rumpelstiltskin-like imp raises a finger to his lips, grins, and tiptoes around a terrified woman in a pair of Jordans. On TikTok and X it's set to Riff Raff's 2014 song "Tip Toe Wing In My Jawwdinz", and people now swap their own faces, or their friends', onto the dancer.
